Hello BTSA Member,
This is a reminder that on Saturday July 19th BTSA Action Sports will be hosting the WWII competition shoot for club members and their eligible guests. Below is the modified June email sent out providing finalized details. .Entry fee is $15.00 per target. This will be split between the club and winners payout. Shoot as many divisions, as many times that you would like. Each participant may only win once per division. We will only guarantee the first 75 entries to shoot. If time permits we will run additional relays. Send a response email if you would like to reserve a relay entry. This is a rain or shine event as we will make use of our overhead cover 100yard firing line for all divisions. Registration begins at 9:00 AM. First relay is 10:30 AM hammer down. Shooting will cease by 3:00 PM. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Action Sports will be looking to host a new type of shoot. This will be a WWII era firearms competition shoot for rifle and pistol.
Some details….
– Rifle will have 2 divisions ,semi auto and bolt action
– Iron sights only for all firearms. Military style slings are allowed.
– Targets will be official NRA B-16 for both 100yd rifle and 25yd pistol ( 5 5/16″ black)
– Each relay will be 10 shot maximum in an 10 minute timeframe
– There will be a “Lewis” type prize money payback. Payback placements will go up to the top 3 places in each division depending on how many entries are received.
The idea is to be using a WWII era (or older) action type of firearm with military style hardware. Something like a Ruger mini 14 (30), Beretta BM 59, M1A are in play with their Garand type action as well as M1 carbines and their clones. Lee Enfield, K98 Mauser, Carcano etc are prime bolt action candidates (no sportified stocks).. Pistols of that era include examples like the 1911A1, Luger P08, P38, Broomhandle Mauser ,Webley Mk IV and more. Again, replicas are fine and any centerfire caliber is permissible. (ex. Kimber 1911 9mm). 2011 style pistols are good to go. No ported barrels or compensators.
This should prove to be a fun and competitive way to get re-connected with some nostalgia pieces that forged history. Also a great way to show off some heirloom guns. With enough interest/ participation this can be a routine BTSA tradition to include more divisions for future events.
Stay safe and well.
Regards,
Victor Grilletto
