Event Description: This is a competitive marksmanship competition open to the public with competitors firing for accuracy at 25 and 50 yard (pistol) and 100 and 200 yard (rifle) targets using the competitor’s own bolt action or semi-automatic weapons and ammunition in common use by the armed forces of the Allied and Axis powers during World War II. The competition will be held on 6 June 2015, beginning at 10 am and end with the trophy ceremony. Use “I like Ike” in the subject line of e-mails using our website “contact us” hot button.
Pre-registration and payment required. See the Association web page “Contact Us” and send an email, for applications and registration information. Registration closes, 1 June 2015. Pre-registration is required.
Rifle competitors will shoot three rounds at a single target at 100 yards, the top twenty (20) shooters with the greatest accuracy will progress to the 200 yard targets. Rifle competitors will fire three rounds at the 200 yard targets, the top five shooters will be selected and will shoot subsequent targets (three shots at a time) until the first, second and third place winners are determined.
Pistol competitors will perform the same process of competition as the rifle shooters, except at ranges of 25 and 50 yards until the first, second and third place winners are determined.
Combined/All-round competitors must pre-register and compete in both rifle and pistol and must pre-register and must win first place in both the rifle and pistol competitions to win the combined/all-round championship.
Allowable weapon calibers are .45 caliber or smaller. No automatic weapons. Steel, armor-piercing or explosive ammunition is prohibited. All weapons and ammunition will be inspected by the BTSA Range Safety Officer prior to the shoot to assess the condition and safety of weapons and ammo.
Firing positions: Unsupported standing, kneeling, sitting, and/or prone as selected by the competitor. Finals (last five competitors in each category) shoot from the standing position. Tie breaker, if required, necessitates the final shooters firing with their non-dominant hand at various distances until one winner is determined.
Prizes:
First Place Rifle, first place trophy and 30% of the rifle competition entry fees collected.
Second Place Rifle, second place trophy and 10% of rifle competition entry fees collected.
Third Place Rifle, third place trophy and 5% of rifle competition entry fees collected.
First Place Pistol, first place trophy and 30% of the pistol competition entry fees collected.
Second Place Pistol, second place trophy and 10% of pistol competition entry fees collected.
Third Place Pistol, third place trophy and 5% of pistol competition entry fees collected.
Combined/All-round, Combined/All-around trophy, and the above first place rifle and pistol cash plus 50% of the $10 additional fee collected from combined/all-round entrants. If the Combined/All-round trophy is won, the first place rifle and pistol trophies will not be awarded.
The Bridgeton Township kitchen will sell Allied and Axis lunch style food and soft drinks beginning 8:30 am
